I used this app exclusively for several years, I have issues every single time losing my place and it’s gotten worse over time. Maybe it’s abandoned? Digging in to find last played bookmark is frustrating. Who knows, just going to pick another app.

I have been using this app for a minimum of 7 or 8 year maybe ? When they used to charge 2.99 for the full feature 😄 And I go back and forth between it and some other app, that doesn’t have the same features I need: bookmarking, sleep timer, and timed rewind and fast forward. That being said, there seems to be a secret inbox folder that pops up in my iTunes library where there are books that I can not access from the app, but they just take space on my phone. Other wise perfect app.
Unfortunately looks abandoned as it doesn’t accurately store last position anymore on latest versions of iOS.
Was my favorite player but has become buggy in most recent iOS. Biggest bug is that it loses your place and starts over from beginning of certain notifications come in while playing.
I have been using this app since it first came out. It is featured packed and the developer is very responsive to emails. A featured review says it is clumsy but really it is not, the app has so much to offer and that has been well explained in the app intro. The price is a steal given the app has so much to offer.
This app has a great interface and wonderful design but unfortunately, that can't make up for trhe bugginess of the software. The app quite often skips to a random place in the book when it is stopped.
And then it started to misbehave. If I receive a call while it’s playing it will sometimes glitch and have moments of silence every few seconds. The only way to fix it is to re-install the app. Which also means noting your place in the book and re-loading it. And fast forwarding to get back there. Adjustable FF and RW controls, remembers my place even if the app is closed out, works with the bluetooth in my car. I'll be paying the $ for the unlimited version. Nicely done. Update: it even remembered my place after an iOS software update. Nice.
The app has long been abandoned , not sure why it’s in the App Store anymore, it should be removed. I used this in the past because I couldn’t find any other adequate app to import DRM free audiobooks with the crucial bookmark feature. The app will lose your place if you go away from the app. I’m not talking about quitting it, but minimizing it. This is absolutely unacceptable. Additionally, it doesn’t handle multi part books well at all. The app will decide its own sort order no matter what you do. Worst of all- The developer would REFUSE to provide support if the customer left a review that’s less than 5 stars. Who does that? Lastly, the FAQ leads to a 404 page. Apple needs to remove this.
The “resume play bug” is killing me. I pause play, then when I resume it might be at the beginning of the chapter, or it might be several chapters back. How long has this been going on? Quite a while and no fix in sight.
The app is a failure. When I tried alerting the creator they lashed out. They're a joke and their app is a joke.
I have been using this app for years, and would have rated it 5 stars at that time. It is no longer being supported or updated and is now almost unusable. Fast forward and rewind rarely work and it constantly resumes play in the wrong place. 😢
I used to really like this audiobook app. I still like most of its features and find it intuitive. However, the app does not properly start at bookmarked locations when I toggle off/on from the lock screen or using my earbuds. The same problem occurs when rewinding (e.g. 30 seconds); if i rewind from the lock screen it rewinds random amounts of time, clearly not recognizing where i am in the noom. Needing to unlock the phone to control it from within the app, rather than using my earbuds or the lock screen controls, makes it very frustrating to use.
Too bad there is zero customer support
When I pause by pressing a button on my headphones, sometime it will completely lose track of where in the file it is when resuming.
This app used to be the best. I have used it for many years. Unfortunately it has become very unreliable. The app constantly loses your position from where you are listening to your audiobook and repeatedly starts the chapter over again and again. It used to do this occasionally and was just a nuisance, however it is become more and more frequent to the point the app is simply too annoying do use since it will not hold your position and resume were you last left off. Useless junk.
Play / pause over bluetooth doesn't work with my 2021 Toyota out with my AfterShokz iOS 14.8.1 Pausing play and resuming at a later time rarely resumes play at the point it was paused.
Used to be my favorite app but has become buggy to the point of being unusable. For example, resets to random parts of the book every time I hit pause, and basic features like fast forward only work intermittently. I tried all of the troubleshooting tips on the website (none worked) and emailed customer support (no response). Finally I gave up and deleted the app.
I liked how I could load up my podcasts and books via WIFI but IMHO this app has a HUGE failure, it fails to remember where you left off and keeps restarting at the beginning of the chapter or podcast. Seems I should have read other reviews first. I also like how they state in their support docs that if you give them 1 star you’re basically dead to them. Seeing as I’m apparently already dead to them (zero response from their support) I think I’ll stay that way. Apparently if you want the app to remember where it leaves off you have to open the phone, open the app and then stop it from there. Yeah, sure, no problem. Fix that flaw and you get five stars and a glowing review. This bug makes this paid app worthless to me.
Works great for adding audiobooks from my music folder which is exactly what I was looking for Would be nice to have a dark mode at night
This is the best of the remaining apps that can play audiobooks from the iPod (ITunes) library. Please keep developing this app. I would be happy to pay for an updated version to support your work.
(Edit 6/30/21: this used to be a great app, now when I play, it doesn’t begin where I left off but at some random location of the book. Now I have to look for a different audiobook player) This audiobook player has everything I want in a player. The features I like best is the ability to change the audio playback speed, I can add an image cover, the ease in adding audio MP3 files, and the large five seconds rewind or fast forward buttons. I've tried many different audiobook players but each was missing either one feature I wanted or another. This is the only perfect audiobook player app I've found so far. The only thing is it's not free but I appreciate that they give 60 days to try the app for free, more app developers need to do this, try before you buy is great. I can see now that I will pay after my trial period ends because this is a great app, just what I need and want.
This app does not seem to receive the support it once did. Lack of dark mode support means using it at night is painful. Also often restarts chapter instead of resuming at latest bookmark, requiring that you open the bookmark list and search for the latest timestamp.
Randomly starts book from beginning. Make sure to bookmark or good luck!
Please consider creating a dark mode. I listen to audiobooks while driving at night and the brightness of the mostly empty white screen is too much.
I love this app, but it has a serious issue. My Bluetooth earbuds won’t pause this player, but it will start it back up. Also if I have a Bluetooth device connected, it will resume from a previous point instead of where it should. It’s almost like the app has a different memory than the control center screen, hard to explain.
Used to be awesome and worth the money. Now it’s not worth it unless the many bugs are fixed.
I’ve been using bookmobile for several years now and I totally appreciate how feature rich and useful it has been. Unfortunately in the past year or so, the app has become impossible to use; every pause/play, especially when switching playback outputs (ie BT headphones and wired CarPlay) sends the app to different location. It’s fortunate that the History feature lets me find a previous spot to continue from, but the overall usability has deteriorated so much that I now seek an alternative.
This app actually seems to have been well thought out and has useful features. Unfortunately, it doesn’t work very well. When you open the app and hit play it will often times just start playing from the beginning of the chapter/file. Navigating using the skip buttons is also broken. It doesn’t seem to be able to skip forward/backward across chapters/files. So, you’ll eventually reach a point where it just skips forward to the same spot over and over no matter how many times you press the button. Lastly, it will randomly just lose all your progress completely and just start from the beginning of the book. Overall, very disappointed. Perhaps I’ll try again when they fix these bugs.
Simply, I’d purchased his other Audiobook player that was available at the same time as this one - they were identical and updated in tandem. No mention made of which was to be sunsetted. I made the mistake of buying the abandoned version - despite reaching out, no response. I’d have purchased this version if received a simple response. Note: until recently the old version worked fine despite 2years of no updates. I’ve moved on to BookPlayer. No charge, open source/development, no issues, and constantly updated. It’s easier to use, may lack a few advanced (rarely used features), yet it’s progressing quickly and addresses issues quickly.
I agree with the all recent 2-3 star reviews. This app used to work well but devs have given up on it. It’s fairly buggy and frustrating to use. At times I just want to delete it but I’ll hold on in hopes that it gets fixed....Either that or when I finish the books in currently listening to.
I should have tested before purchasing in-app. Sort by File Name or Title does not work at all. I'll try this app later to see if its fixed.
Would be a good app if it didn’t randomly restart the book at times when resuming play. After 3 times of jumping back through a book to find my place I decided it was time to find a new app.
Used to be a great app, but clearly they have given up. Full of bugs, nothing works just as was intended
I Ike everything about this app except one thing. This one thing is very close to making just delete this app and wash my hands of it. The most annoying thing you could have as a problem for an audiobook app. Restarting from previous chapters or random spots after pausing. This cannot keep happening. This is an app killer. Please for the love of everything. FIX this!!! I’ll update my review to 5 stars once it’s fixed because nearly everything else is fantastic.
This is a great app... when it works. The interface is intuitive and usable, the controls are good.... but whenever it pauses or is interrupted, the location jumps around when you resume, so you spend five minutes trying to jump back and forth to figure out where the hell you left off. Also the play/pause controls don’t always work if the app is not in the foreground, or from headphone controls etc.
As I mentioned earlier, this is a wonderful app for audiobooks with multiple modes to consume the books. In addition I’d like to add that the developers are also incredible individuals.
A Ton of bugs. If you can get past those, it is still a good app.
I have used this app a lot in spite of the clunky interface. Lately it loses my place many many times a day. I pause and when I play again it is back at the beginning of the chapter. I had to give it up. Thanks though.
I can be listening in my car, and when I get out and it resumes on my airpods, the book will start from the beginning of the chapter or it’ll jump back to some random point. It takes me hours and hours longer to listen to a book because I have to constantly hunt around for where I left off. If this is fixed, then 5 stars. I’ve been looking around for alternatives because of this. It’s app breaking.
I’m on iPhone 11 Max Pro. Latest iOS updates. How do you NOT have touch era standard features? Like any media app... You put your thumb (finger) on the time, so that you can fast forward or rewind with your thumb(or finger) to the point in time you’re trying get to - app does not have this? Wth? The bookmark feature was the saving grace for this app but what killed this feature. 👎 A clunky UI. 👎 Cannot use your finger to scrub through time to reach point you want immediately. 👎 Instead.. they have a dumb, clunky (tap) constantly on a +30 sec, to fast forward or rewind (there are also 5 sec increments as well) Ok, so for the 30+ sec fast forward clunky design... Imagine tapping on that, through a 18 minute podcast and you’re trying to reach the 8 minute mark or worse the 17 minute mark. Silly. Horrendous UI design. Alas... to move around the app, (to get to stuff or in and out of stuff) a horrendous UI design exists instead of modern standards. You know like... Simple hamburger menu or the 3 dots (...) Ever seen those developer? Reader... Don’t waste your time.
This is a great app I especially like the adjustable fast forward and rewind. Easy to use. Plays M4b. I’ve tried several different apps and always come back to Bookmobile.
I’ve used this app for several years and with several devices. It has many good features. Really like the bookmark feature. You will need it if you use listen using Bluetooth or AirPlay. I find that when I listen using my device speaker everything is great. But if I use it in the car with Bluetooth or at home with AirPlay it doesn’t always remember where you left off. It starts over at the beginning of your file. You need to pull up the app and then go to bookmarks to see where you left off which is nice. But you shouldn’t have to do this. This gets very frustrating and the reason I gave it 2 stars. If they can get this fixed it would be a 5 star app. I’ve looked at their help and tried their suggestions but they didn’t work.
Update broke the car mode...reinstalled and reset everything still does not work. This was the only reason I was using it
Somewhat tricky to use at first, but it has become one of my most used apps. Great developer support when I had a problem.
I love this app and would give 5 starts except for one bug. Many times after interrupted play, the app starts the audiobook over again. Good thing it automatically holds the position as a bookmark, but this is a bug I hope gets fixed soon.
The features of this app are superb: full rich feature control over your audiobooks, auto-sync w Apple Books DRM library. But it is way too buggy! Often crashes when loading. Has not been updated in 9 months!!! Come On!!
DO NOT WAIST YOUR TIME! This app is no longer maintained and has a lot of bugs! I don’t appreciate that I had to purchase this app twice just to get an update. This is the exact same app as bookmower which I purchased a long time ago and have been using but it hasn’t been updated in over a year. They just gave it a new name so they could get more money out of the people who already purchased it.
The (known) issue where it only remembers your position if the app is in the foreground when you pause it makes this unusable. They blame it on iOS, but other apps don’t have this issue.
I drive for a living. Recently picked up an iPad Mini and started looking for a good audiobook player. Need to be able to load my own, since I've picked up a few hundred over the years and recently ripped digital copies of them. Thought this would be the solution. It's not. 1, no dark mode. I drive a lot at night and odd times, dark mode is kinda a must have. 2, on a couple of different books, after pausing and resuming a book, the player resets to the beginning. So it might work for you, it didn't for me.
